Strength Embodied Details
ABOUT THE PROGRAM
-
Each session is one hour, 2 sessions per week.
-
Each participant will receive a free logbook and journal. The logbook is for taking class notes and tracking progress. The journal is to record their thoughts and feelings as they go through this process of self-care. Details provided here will help us gain information on how to improve the program and participants may share some of their thoughts and feelings if they feel comfortable doing so.
-
During the process, clients will learn exercise selection, how to do them, how often to do them, and how to determine the appropriate amount of weight for themselves. Over the weeks they will gradually gain autonomy over their session.
-
This program utilizes dumbbells
-
Each student, at the completion of the initial 9 weeks, is able to perform a basic strength training program on their own. They will also understand when to increase/decrease weight and the number of sets and reps to perform. Each client’s list of exercises follows the standard 10 movement principles.
-
In order to give you and the program the best chance at success, we ask that all participants respond to emails and texts as well as attend graduation. If client misses too many days (3 or more) or lateness is effecting their chances of completing the program, they will be asked to withdrawal from the program and reapply in the future if they wish. M.I.N.E personally will reach out before such decision is made.
-
To ensure long-term success, a 1-year membership to NYC Park and Rec Center or something comparable is offered to all graduates of the program.
RE-INVESTMENT/VOLUNTEER
Those who graduate from the program and wish to volunteer can register to be a mentor, workout partner, or an accountability buddy. They will be paired up with a recent graduate.
The goal is to increase the likelihood that both individuals will continue to lift as a part of their healthy lifestyle and self-care.
-
Workout Partner - Someone in the same class or a past graduate to work out and lift with the participant or recent graduate. The goal of the workout partner is to increase the success of continuing lifting after the initial 9-week period.
-
Accountability Buddy - Current participant or previous graduate. They agree to a form of communication to hold each other accountable to regular exercise. The goal is to increase the likelihood that the client will have strength training as part of their healthy lifestyle and self-care.
