Welcome to the Strength Embodied
Our Approach:
Our program is called Strength Embodied. It is unique in that it places the knowledge of weight lifting in the participants’ hands, which departs from the traditional paradigm of a participant working indefinitely with a coach.

Our Mission:
Our mission is to work with low-income survivors of gender-based violence to teach them strength training fundamentals they can use as a form of self-care, health, and community.

History:
This organization was born from a powerful experience my colleagues and I had in the fall of 2019. We partnered with a well-respected organization, Sanctuary for Families (Survivor Leader Division) to provide strength training fundamentals to a group of survivors of domestic violence. The goal was to help these individuals on their journey toward regaining self-sufficiency and autonomy in their lives. Over a period of 6 weeks, participants met twice weekly with a trauma-informed strength trainer and journaled their experiences throughout.
This proved to be a powerful experience for clients and trainers alike. Blog post of original pilot and community.

The first step is to match a qualified Trauma-Sensitive fitness professional with a client. Once paired, the client will engage in a program with the following parameters:

-
Evaluate each movement to ensure appropriate weight is used
-
